Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between board & train and private lessons?
Board and train programs have your dog stay with us for focused, immersive training over 2-4 weeks. Private lessons involve you directly, with sessions scheduled at intervals and practice required between meetings. Board and train produces faster results; private lessons give you more hands-on learning alongside your dog.
How long does it take to see results from dog training?
Most dogs show noticeable improvement within the first two weeks of training. The timeline depends on your dog’s specific issues and the program chosen. Our 2-week program addresses foundational obedience, while more complex behavioral issues may require 3-4 weeks.
Do you guarantee your training results?
For private lessons, we offer a 100% refund after the initial lesson if you’re not satisfied. However, lessons cannot guarantee results since owner follow-through happens outside our control. For board and train programs, your dog will be reliable and obedient in the commands advertised by the end of their stay, plus you receive free refreshers for life.
What age can puppies start training programs?
Puppies can start training at any age. E-collar training programs generally begin at 5 months. Younger puppies can start with our Basic Marker Mastery™ program, which uses clicker training and treats to build a solid obedience foundation.
How do e-collars work and are they safe?
E-collars are communication tools, not punishment devices. The remote allows control up to 400 yards and helps maintain your dog’s attention in distracting environments. When used properly by skilled trainers, e-collars are safe and effective for teaching reliable off-leash obedience.
Can you help with aggressive or reactive dogs?
Yes. Our 3-Week Reactive Dog Program and 4-Week Rehabilitation Program are designed specifically for these challenges. We work to significantly improve reactive and aggressive behaviors, though we’re honest that some severe issues require ongoing management rather than a complete cure.
What’s included in the training programs?
Each program includes professional training, owner transfer sessions, and detailed guidance for maintaining your dog’s skills at home. Board and train programs include lifetime free refresher training. Specific inclusions vary by program, which we’ll explain during your free consultation.
