Our Dog Training Services

We offer several training options designed around common behavior challenges Oceanside dog owners face. Whether your puppy needs early foundations, your adult dog needs stronger obedience, or your dog requires specialized reactivity support, the consultation can help identify an available program that fits your goals.

Board & Train Programs

Board & Train programs currently run from two to four weeks, depending on the selected option and the dog’s training needs. Dogs board with a professional trainer and receive focused daily training with controlled or real-world distraction work appropriate for the selected program. Clients receive regular progress updates during the stay.

  • 2-Week On-Leash Program: Covers six core commands: come, sit, down, place, heel, and off. Dogs practice on-leash obedience around common everyday distractions.
  • 3-Week Off-Leash Program: Builds on the 2-Week Program while adding off-leash reliability in open, high-distraction environments.
  • 3-Week Reactive Dog Program: This on-leash program combines the six core commands with structured work around reactivity triggers in controlled, moderate-distraction environments.
  • 4-Week “Rap Sheet” Rehabilitation Program: Designed for severe aggression or highly reactive behavior, this program uses a customized plan in lower-distraction environments. It does not guarantee a complete fix for every behavior.
  • ExpeditePro™ Add-On: Add this option to an eligible Board & Train program for expedited scheduling and training with the Head Trainer. Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Private Training Sessions

Private dog training sessions provide one-on-one coaching for dogs and owners. Available options include Basic Obedience and Basic & Advanced Obedience, with consistent owner practice required between appointments.

  • Basic Obedience: Covers come, sit, down, place, heel, and off, along with duration and owner practice.
  • Basic & Advanced Obedience: Builds on foundational commands with more advanced application and distraction work.
  • In-Home Training: Available within a 30-mile radius of the trainer’s location. Oceanside owners should confirm address eligibility and trainer availability during the consultation.
  • Basic Marker Mastery™: A separate four-week program consisting of four one-hour sessions using reward-based clicker and marker training.

Private lessons require regular owner practice and do not guarantee specific results because follow-through between appointments remains outside the trainer’s control.

Puppy Training

Puppy training includes age-appropriate options for building early skills. The Positive Puppy Program is a four-week Board & Train program that uses reward-based Marker Mastery™ training.

The program introduces:

  • Crate and potty training
  • Recall in the house and yard
  • Sit and down
  • Place
  • Leash manners
  • Work on common puppy behaviors such as nipping and jumping

Basic Marker Mastery™ is available for younger puppies using reward-based clicker training. The Murrieta site generally introduces remote-collar training at five months or older.

Safe, positive socialization should be matched to the puppy’s confidence, health, and vaccination status, with veterinary guidance when needed.

Why Oceanside Chooses Off Leash K9 Training for Dog Obedience

Oceanside’s streets, neighborhoods, trails, and coastal areas can expose dogs to people, traffic, wildlife, noise, and other animals. Off Leash K9 Training focuses on practicing commands around appropriate real-world distractions so those skills are more useful during everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does dog training cost in Oceanside?

Pricing depends on the program type, duration, and level of training your dog needs. Available options include private lessons, puppy training, and multi-week Board & Train programs.

Visit our Plans & Pricing page for current program information, or call (760) 477-4875 to request a free consultation.

How long does it take to see results?

Current Board & Train programs run from two to four weeks, depending on the selected track. Private-training timelines depend on the package, the dog’s starting behavior, the owner’s goals, and consistent practice between appointments.

Progress and long-term reliability vary. Owners should expect to continue reinforcing the training after the formal program ends.

Do you guarantee your dog training?

The current obedience, reactive, and rehabilitation Board & Train packages advertise reliable performance of the commands included in the selected program and free lifetime refresher training.

The 4-Week “Rap Sheet” Rehabilitation Program does not guarantee a complete fix for every behavior.

Private lessons offer a 100% refund after the initial lesson if you are not happy with the experience. Private lessons do not guarantee specific results because owner practice and follow-through are essential and outside the trainer’s control.

What age should my dog start training?

Puppies can begin age-appropriate foundation work as early as eight weeks using reward-based methods. Younger puppies may work on socialization, confidence, crate and potty routines, leash manners, and foundational cues.

The Murrieta site generally introduces remote-collar training at five months or older. Adult and senior dogs may also participate in training, although the appropriate program depends on the dog’s health, behavior history, temperament, and training goals.
