Our Dog Training Services

Carlsbad dog owners come to us with different training needs, including puppies who need early foundations, dogs with inconsistent leash manners, pets with reactivity, and families looking for more dependable obedience.

Board & Train Programs

Board & Train programs currently run from two to four weeks, depending on the selected option. Your dog boards with a professional trainer and receives focused daily training, controlled practice, and appropriate real-world distraction work. Regular progress updates are provided during the stay.

  • 2-Week On-Leash Program: Covers six core commands: come, sit, down, place, heel, and off. Dogs practice on-leash obedience around common everyday distractions.
  • 3-Week Off-Leash Program: Builds on the 2-Week Program while adding off-leash reliability in open, high-distraction environments.
  • 3-Week Reactive Dog Program: This on-leash program combines the six core commands with structured work around specific reactivity triggers in controlled, moderate-distraction environments.
  • 4-Week “Rap Sheet” Rehabilitation Program: Designed for severe aggression or highly reactive behavior, this program uses a customized training plan in lower-distraction environments. It does not guarantee a complete fix for every behavior.

The ExpeditePro™ add-on is available for eligible Board & Train programs. It provides expedited scheduling and training with the Head Trainer. Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Training goals, equipment, and environments vary by program. Your consultation gives you an opportunity to ask which option may be appropriate for your dog.

Private Training Lessons

Private dog training sessions provide one-on-one coaching for dogs and owners. Available options include Basic Obedience and Basic & Advanced Obedience.

These packages focus on foundational or advanced commands, owner handling, communication, and consistent practice between appointments.

In-home obedience training is available within a 30-mile radius of the trainer’s location. Because eligibility depends on the specific address and trainer availability, Carlsbad owners should confirm in-home service during the consultation.

Private lessons require regular owner practice and do not guarantee specific results because follow-through between appointments remains outside the trainer’s control.

Puppy Training Programs

Puppy training includes age-appropriate options for building early skills, confidence, and household manners.

The Positive Puppy Program is a four-week Board & Train program that uses reward-based Marker Mastery™ training. The program introduces:

  • Crate and potty training
  • Recall in the house and yard
  • Sit and down
  • Place
  • Leash manners
  • Work on common puppy behaviors such as nipping and jumping

Basic Marker Mastery™ is a separate reward-based option for younger puppies. It uses clicker and marker training without an e-collar or prong collar. The puppy package includes a 15-foot leash, clicker, and slip lead.

Puppy foundations can begin as early as eight weeks using age-appropriate reward-based methods. Safe socialization should be matched to the puppy’s confidence, health, and vaccination status, with veterinary guidance when needed.

The Murrieta site generally introduces remote-collar training when a dog is at least five months old.

For additional help at home, read the guide to puppy potty training and crate training.

Why Choose Off Leash K9 Training for Dog Training in Carlsbad

Obedience practiced only in a quiet environment may become harder for a dog to maintain when traffic, wildlife, people, or other dogs appear. Off Leash K9 Training focuses on developing and practicing commands around appropriate real-world distractions so those skills are more useful during everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What training programs do you offer for Canyon Lake dog owners?

Training costs depend on the program type, duration, and level of training your dog needs. Current options are published on the Plans & Pricing page.

Call (760) 477-4875 for a free consultation and help identifying an appropriate option. Training packages must be paid in full before lessons are scheduled.

How long does it take to see results?

Current Board & Train programs run from two to four weeks, depending on the selected track. The Positive Puppy Program also runs for four weeks.

Private-training timelines depend on the selected package, your dog’s starting behavior, your goals, and how consistently you practice between appointments. Results and long-term reliability vary, so owners should expect to continue reinforcing the training after the formal program ends.

Do you guarantee training results?

Private lessons offer a 100% refund after the initial lesson if you are not happy with the experience. They do not guarantee specific results because owner practice and follow-through are essential and outside the trainer’s control.

Current obedience, reactive, and rehabilitation Board & Train packages advertise reliable performance of the commands included in the selected program and free lifetime refresher training.

The 4-Week “Rap Sheet” Rehabilitation Program does not guarantee a complete fix for every behavior. Contact the team for the guarantee and refresher terms that apply to your selected program.

Do you use e-collars?

Off Leash K9 Training of Murrieta describes the e-collar as a communication and attention tool. Remote-collar training generally begins when a dog is at least five months old. Younger puppies begin with clicker, marker, treat, and reward-based foundations.

The 3-Week Off-Leash Program describes e-collar communication at distances of up to 400 yards. Results vary by dog, program, owner handling, and continued practice.

Before enrolling, ask the trainer to explain the equipment, fit, settings, training methods, potential risks, and how your dog’s response will be monitored. This information can help you determine whether the equipment and program match your preferences and your dog’s needs.
